As the 2023 exam season gets underway. We can see how important it is that Private candidates are catered for. Why private candidates are more important than ever.

The considerable stream lining of education in the UK. From the academisation to a historical reduction in Grammar schools. With one school regulator, Ofsted there is now a much bigger demand fom parents to pupils who find that there isn't any suitable offering. Thus taking the private exam candidate route.

The recent teacher strike has put the spotlight on even more the pressure the system has to make a one size fits all model. Reducing the variability and long term accessibility of learning in schools and ultimately exams.

Some would argue there has been a marketisation of education: Academisation has introduced more competition between schools, which some argue can lead to better educational outcomes. However, others worry that this marketisation of education could lead to a focus on performance metrics and league tables, rather than holistic student development. The chance for private candidates to sit exams are reduced. While the net result is more pupils are not attending schools. Parents are seeing alternative solutions.
