Pupils out of this pandemic will have a totally different skills set than previous generation. Without a date they will be far more computer literate.
“They won’t have the same qualifications as earlier cohorts, but many of them will have developed skills that other cohorts would not have,” John Nield, a fellow at the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors and former chief examiner, Writing in the Telegraph.
“Some pupils have returned to school with better independent learning skills and greater resilience.”
While Barnaby Lenon, a former member of Ofqual’s standards advisory group, said schools’ predictions for GCSEs and A-levels will be “wildly inflated”. Exam Boards will find it impossible to check grades.
Barnaby explained a major challenge with the grading for the summer of 2021 – which will rely on centre assessed grades, is that there will be no attempt to limit the number of grades at each level.
Barnaby say this is “a fundamental requirement” for most qualifications systems.
