Can being a home educated private candidate Get a Good Education?
No matter where a pupil learns their experience can be good and bad. So really it is location agnostic. What matters are the enviroment that the pupil learns in. Having fancy facilities is easy. The hard bit is not the facilities it is the enviroment and the morale of the learning that goes on.
For example there are plenty of bullying and poor learning at schools with great facilities. While some of the best learninhg is done at the kichen table. Or around the family dinner.
it is all about the values of the enviroment that the pupil learns in. While being a private candidate gives you the choice of where and how you learn and eventually take the exams.
Homeschooling and private candidates can take advantage of the control they have over their education and exams.
If they have a particularly strong interest in one area. Eg. Sport or music that is hard to be fulfilled in one school. Taking control of the learning enviroment at home means they can focus on their interest in the way that suits them. Councils and universities do recognise the effetiveness of home schooling. While careful and sensible planning before you start is the key to the fulfilled home learning experience. There are just a few things that learning from you home you miss out from. Including having class mates.
While being a private candidate does not have this problem . As it is rare to make friends at an exam centre.
