This current argument of the Gov spending only 1.5 Billion in catchup tuition distracts from other uncertainity. The cancellations and reduced opportunities to sit exams through the year.

This blog advocates for exam sitting opportunities to be regular frequent and often. Reducing the cliff edge scenario that brings with the old fashioned school year.

Apart from the small rise Gov have promised for catch up tuition, the ability to plan when to take exams has been taken away from pupils. While giving more power to the school and the school year timetable.

The way out of this mess and to drag the UK's education system into the 21st century is to have exam sitting opportunity throughout the year. Allowing pupils to sit exams when they are ready not when the school decides to run exams.

The cancellation of exams in 2021 has left the year group utterly bereft. It will stain their life chances with only the high initiated able to get on.
